Manchester United To Begin Covid-19 Spot-Checks On Match-Days

Manchester United will start Covid-19 spot-checks on match-days at Old Trafford, beginning from their game against Newcastle on Saturday.

With Man United keen on dealing with the spread of Covid-19 are also expecting proof of full vaccination to become mandatory in the Premier League from 1 October.

The new rlues by Man United want fans aged 18 and over to prove that they have already taken double-jabbed or have negative result of lateral flow or PCR test within 48 hours of the game.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson in July disclosed that plans to force certification at venues where "large crowds gather", including sporting venues hosting 20,000 or more.

The Red Devils become the first club to begin spot-checks during a Premier League's game and also protocols for the 2021-22 season, which indicates that fans "must be prepared to prove" that they are full vaccinated or have had a negative Covid-19 test in the previous 48 hours.

In a statement, the club said: "The Government has indicated that Covid certification checks are likely to be mandatory for those attending large events from 1 October 2021.

"In line with Premier League guidance, this is expected to apply at all Manchester United matches at Old Trafford."

However, Brighton, Chelsea and Tottenham have already introduced mandatory checks for fans attending games at their stadiums.

Though the initiative by Manchester United is not yet a mandatory requirement to enter Old Trafford on match-days.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United have won two games in their first three Premier League fixtures with one draw for the season and are hoping to win the Premier League title for the first time since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Old Trafford side have re-signed their former forward Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus, who looks set to make his debut against Newcastle United over the weekend.
